We have already seen what a game changer the IPhone was when it added the app store. These big companies are hoping that lightning strikes twice and the IPad enjoy the same kind of success. One of the big companies that have already created an application for use on the IPad is Marvel. Marvel is one of the biggest comic book company’s out there. They created characters that you all know and love such as Spiderman, The Incredible Hulk, The X men, Iron Man and many others. The application has been called revolutionary. It also has been said that buyers will be so impressed by the app that it may mean the death of your traditional comic book store.
The app by Marvel has already been shown off on many TV shows and newscast. You are able to read a comic with just the flick of your finger on the screen. And it s not just flipping through the pages, it is telling you a story. We do not mean in the tradition way that comic books tell you stories. We are saying that the application will go to each panel and highlight the part of the story that you are supposed to be paying attention to. It will zoom in and out all with the flick of your finger. And then when you are ready to go to the next page, just flick your finger once again. This application has impressed a lot of people that have seen it so far. Many have said that this is enough to buy the IPad alone.
If you are a comic book store owner, a sentiment like that has to really worry you. There are already bootleg comic books that are available through the internet. If the comic book companies are able to sell directly to the consumer through this device, then your store may be in trouble. Marvel has already said that most of their back catalog will be available to purchase through the IPad app store. Luckily for comic book store owners, the device is going to take a little bit of time to spread to the regular public. Right now just as many people are skeptical about the new device as there are people who are excited by it. No one knows exactly how it will do, but there is a good chance that it will be a hit.
