Will the IPad put comic book stores out of business?

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Since the Apple IPad has been announced, there have been many companies that are trying to figure out how to make their wares available for the device. No one wants to be the last one to the boat. We have already seen what a game changer the IPhone was when it added the app store. These big companies are hoping that lightning strikes twice and the IPad enjoy the same kind of success. One of the big companies that have already created an application for use on the IPad is Marvel. Marvel is one of the biggest comic book company’s out there. They created characters that you all know and love such as Spiderman, The Incredible Hulk, The X men, Iron Man and many others. The application has been called revolutionary. It also has been said that buyers will be so impressed by the app that it may mean the death of your traditional comic book store.

The app by Marvel has already been shown off on many TV shows and newscast. You are able to read a comic with just the flick of your finger on the screen. And it s not just flipping through the pages, it is telling you a story. We do not mean in the tradition way that comic books tell you stories. We are saying that the application will go to each panel and highlight the part of the story that you are supposed to be paying attention to. It will zoom in and out all with the flick of your finger. And then when you are ready to go to the next page, just flick your finger once again. This application has impressed a lot of people that have seen it so far. Many have said that this is enough to buy the IPad alone.

If you are a comic book store owner, a sentiment like that has to really worry you. There are already bootleg comic books that are available through the internet. If the comic book companies are able to sell directly to the consumer through this device, then your store may be in trouble. Marvel has already said that most of their back catalog will be available to purchase through the IPad app store. Luckily for comic book store owners, the device is going to take a little bit of time to spread to the regular public. Right now just as many people are skeptical about the new device as there are people who are excited by it. No one knows exactly how it will do, but there is a good chance that it will be a hit.

How to hire a developer to create your dream IPad application

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

We all love all of the new software that is available. Not just on the IPad but on computers in general. We love how it seems that the developers of software are always able to develop a solution to a problem that we sometimes didn’t know we had. The right software tool can make our lives a little bit easier. But sometimes you want to take that love of software products to the next step. You want to be able to work in the world of software but you feel as if you are limited because you do not know how to create an application on your own. That is not a problem with the use of the internet. You can always find someone who will create the application for you. We are now seeing a whole lot of developers that plan on specializing in the creation of both the IPhone and the IPad applications. As a person who is not deeply involved in the world of software but would love to create their own application, you might wonder how you can get in touch with a skilled developer. We will show you several different ways that you can get that done. Soon you will be using, and maybe even selling, your own dream IPad application.

Before you start the process of getting in touch with an IPad developer, there are a few rules that you are going to want to follow. The first rule is that you have to know what you want before you start. When a person is creating a software product, the ideal has to be thought out to completion. It is very hard to add features while you are in the middle of creating the product. So before you start production, you are going to want to know how you want the product to look and act exactly. You also want to make sure that you and the developer are on the same page. You do that by staying in constant communication with one another. You do not want to pester him, but make sure that the work is getting done in the manner that you both agreed to. Any deviations in the plan by either you or them might set the project back weeks depending on how big it is.

Now that you know what to do when you start to work with the developer, let’s get to the task of finding the right developer for your project. To find the right developer you have several options. You can use a company that specializes in creating these types of applications. Using an entire company may be expensive and probably is something that you only want to do if you plan on selling the application or using it for your company. If the application is for you alone, then you might be able to find a less expensive way. That less expensive way is to use a freelancer. There are plenty of freelance sites that are out there. And these sites have developers that are ready for extra work. Before you pick one, make sure that you check their credentials and past work history. You only want to go through this process once and not have someone will leave you high and dry.

Finding and working with a person to create your dream IPad application may be hard work. But I guarantee, that you will love the results.

Ipad ebook reader

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

The IPad will affect how we watch videos, it will also affect our reading patterns. One of the biggest pieces of hardware released last year was the Kindle. This was Amazon’s version of an eBook reader and it was able to get great reviews from the press. The IPad is looking to stop that train in its tracks. With the IPad, Apple has put together a lot of great eBook functions that will satisfy people who read a lot. The screen is in color and the pages of the book can become interactive. Some textbook companies were so impressed, that they decided that they are going to put their books on the IPad. We will see a lot of schools decide to use an IPad type of device for children in the upcoming years.

Between books and video, the IPad is ready to become the number one multimedia device out right now. Once the ball starts rolling, it will be hard to stop.

How will the IPad affect your business?

Friday, April 9th, 2010

For most people, carrying around a laptop can be a very bulky experience, even at the best of times. This big briefcase like bag that you have to carry while you transport the device can be a big pain to deal with. With the IPad you will not have to worry about that problem. You will be able to carry a very light bag and be able to just slip it in and out whenever you need it. No need to worry about folding the device when you are done with it. Just slip it in the bag and you are done.

One of the ways that it might affect people who work in an office but you do not here a lot about is at office meetings. At some places of employment, when you have a meeting you use a power point and a projector. In other more modern offices, everyone brings a laptop to the table with them. This way the presentation can be seen through the laptop and studied more carefully. Both of these are sub optimal solutions and the IPad can do them one better. With the IPad, there would be less space used while at the same time you can look at it and the person who is talking at the same time. With a laptop, you are blocked off from eye to eye contact by the top of the device. With the IPad, you can hold it down as easily as you would a newspaper that you are reading. And pick it back up with just a flick of the wrist. The ease of use of the IPad will make your meetings go quicker while getting more information conveyed to your employees.

The IPad has the sort of technology that may be able to energize your business. If your company relies on a heavy use of laptops or computers, then you might want to see how an IPad can take you to the next level.
